In a review for The Society for U.S. Intellectual History's blog, Alex Lubin calls Paradoxes of Nostalgia a "brilliant and relevant study" that offers "incisive analysis of how Cold War nostalgia rests on quotidian attacks on reality and truth itself." Lubin, a scholar of African American history and culture, is the president elect of the American Studies Association. Professor Von Eschen chairs the American Studies department at UVA.
