Cold War Country

Joseph M. Thompson, who graduated from the UVA PhD program in History with an American Studies Certificate in 2019, has published his first book: Cold War Country: How Nashville’s Music Row and the Pentagon Created the Sound of American Patriotism. Thompson will be speaking about the book at UVA on October 9 at 5 pm, in a location to be announced.

Cold War Country is described as a "readable history [that] reveals how country music's Nashville-based business leaders on Music Row created partnerships with the Pentagon to sell their audiences on military service while selling the music to service members." More about the book here.
